It’s my first Favorites of 2015! I came back to the blogging world this week and I am definitely easing back in. As soon as I pulled the trigger and opened up my computer I immediately felt the pace of my day get more frantic. It is really hard to keep life from feeling like an intense juggling act but I am determined to bring the same peace I felt over the break into this new year. Even if that just means a few deep breaths here and there, I am determined. I had to share some of the great things I have spotted lately though so here goes…

now I can’t stop recappin’
Just a few days ago I was all, “recaps are for losers” but little Bitter Betty is gone and now all I want to do is recap things. Speaking of, on New Year’s we did what most parents of young children do…found other parents of young children and figured out a way not to be miserable on the one night that calls for champagne and no curfew (two things that don’t really mix with parenting). We went out to an early dinner and then hung out at my neighbors house and I couldn’t have been more excited when our neighbors revealed that their tradition each NYE is playing high-low. Basically everyone goes around the room and shares their high and low for the year. This kind of stuff is so up my alley (Taylor hid in the kitchen) and the kids loved playing too. Oliver has actually asked me to play it several times since then (totally my child).
Anyways, back to today. As I was going through old posts to recap my 2014, I came across so many things that I still love from my series of “My Favorites This Week.” Each Friday I round up my favorites from that week. Everything from clothes to decor, food to art, anything that caught my eye that week. It helps me mentally purge the list of things I need! and want! And now it’s turned out to be a pretty fun catalogue of stuff for me to look back on. Here are some of my favorites from the 624 items I gathered in 2014…
2014: look back
Recaps of 2014 are so old now that we are already so deep into a new year, right? I told myself that I wasn’t going to do a 2014 recap. I started seeing all of these blog and Instagram posts about accomplishments and milestones in 2014 and I got really discouraged. When I see really amazing things done by other bloggers/people I am inspired but I don’t get a surge of motivation, I get really anxious and critical of myself. The more I saw the highlight reels, the more I started feeling like What the heck did I even do last year?? I did what I always do when I get that knot in my stomach…made a list. I literally wrote down every project I did for clients and myself and you know what? I actually did have a pretty good reason for feeling busy throughout 2014…

I also brought my sister, Lauren, on to help and she and I also started some local events. We hosted our first makeCLT (formerly makeShop but had to change the name due to trademark issues) and had a blast getting creative with some local ladies. For that complete post click, here.
