It’s time for a fun reveal of one of clients’ living room. When we met with this client she was itching to bring her family room out of the dark ages. They had recently completed a makeover on their kitchen and dining area and the family room did not jive. The furniture was dark, the colors were dated, and the layout was not right. Yesterday, on Instagram I shared a little of how our process works and I thought it would be fun to follow that up by showing you how our process plays out on a real project.
Step 1: We meet with the client (we actually first correspond via email/phone to get some basic info to make sure the project is a good fit) to take measurements and make a detailed list of wants and needs. We spend a lot of time pulling out likes and dislikes from clients, looking at their Pinterest boards or Houzz Idea books, and getting a feel for what they love. We also measure to make sure we source things in the right scale and size.

Step 2: Next up we start working on the design presentation. This can start a variety of ways…one inspiration piece, a color scheme, an overall vibe, etc. We start to hone in on one or two concepts and create mood boards.
Step 3: Design presentation…we typically come back about two weeks after the initial consult to go present our ideas. I like to show the client an overall visual, like this design board, to help them see things as a whole. I then walk them through each piece, my opinions on why it works, and get their feedback. I try to have a couple of back up options so that if we need to tweak one or two things we easily can. By the end of this appointment I try to have most of the pieces approved so we can move onto ordering.
Step 4: We aim to get orders placed quickly so that the room can come together sooner rather than later. There are always hiccups, it’s just part of the process, but we really try to make it as painless as we can!
Step 5: Install day is what we all love, right?! On this day we show up with a carload of accessories and put the room together! I love to be able to reveal the makeover to clients and see their reactions! Drum rolllll please…..

I absolutely love this room!! All of the colors are so fresh and pretty. I especially love how we mixed in different textures and styles so the room doesn’t feel one note. I have to give credit to these awesome clients as well. They totally trusted me and my design visions. They stayed on track, listened to direction, and played a huge role in transforming their room.
