easiest no-sew curtains ever
There are two things in decorating that I have never been very good at: spending a lot of money and commitment. So these curtains are right up my alley. I wanted curtains that looked like they were made from custom fabric I just didn’t want to spend that kind of money. Plus I am known to change my mind at a moments notice so I can’t justify buying anything that can’t be changed on a whim.
These curtains came about when I just happen to see some great dish towels in World Market. I loved the fabric and I had a little lightbulb moment when I realized they could be used as curtains. Even better…they didn’t need hemming. NO SEWING! I knew IKEA carried these great inexpensive curtain rods that would work perfectly. The rods are expandable so they can fit most any size standard window. (*Note: one of my windows was more narrow but my husband was able to cut off some of the length of the rod with no problem). The rods have clips so that you just hang the fabric right from them.
So I have been enjoying my lovely inexpensive curtains for the last couple of years but I was itching for a change. A new season, a new fabric, right? So I headed back to World Market because I knew they would have great fabrics towels again. I scored 4 new dish towels for $3.99 a pop. I grabbed four, ran an iron over them, unclipped the old towels, and hung the new ones. When it was all said and done I had spent $16 and less than one hour to complete this project!
I swear they only took a few minutes… I just got delayed taking the pictures hence the day-night transition! |

to do list
I can’t accomplish anything without a list. Especially since having kids, it just seems like my mind is always in a million different places. On Sunday evenings I make time to sit down and get organized for the week. I plan my meals, look at the agenda for the week, and make detailed to-do lists for the week. I break my lists down by day and sometimes even by the first half of the day and the second. This week is looking like a busy one! Most of the things on my calendar have to do with design POST so I couldn’t be more excited but I am going to need MAJOR lists! Here is what I need to accomplish before the week is over:
- Finalize the details for a client’s master bedroom and get “after” pictures
- Shop for candles, a decorative storage box, and possibly a piece of art
- Place some online orders for furniture for a client’s office/guest room
- Call and reserve some chairs and tablecloths for a client’s event (engagement party)
- Start looking through paint samples for my master bedroom (decided I am going to paint!)
- Shop for food for the engagement party
- Start working on design boards for a client’s nursery
- Help a friend shop for home accessories
- Post some things to sell on Craigslist
- Find a junkyard so I can search for some large metal and/or wooden numbers for a DIY project I am working on
- Make a fall wreath
