I don’t think I have ever revealed two spaces in one month and certainly not in my own house (check out my living room reveal, here!) I shared Part 1 of my guest room revamp a couple of weeks ago and today I wanted to show you the rest of the room. Here is the workspace…
We used to keep filing trays on the desk but it took up so much space and just junked it up. I finally went through everything, purged the unnecessary, and filtered what was left into these IKEA file folders. I am a “spreader” and it helps so much to have the entire desktop to work with.
Being that this is a office/guest room I had do a little refreshing on the other side as well.
BEFORE:
I was using the bed as more of a daybed, which was novel for a while but eventually we really needed a bed that felt, well more like a bed. I also grew sick of all the bold color so first on my list was to recover the headboard. I chose a soft chambray fabric and more neutral bedding.
AFTER:
By toning down the headboard and losing some of the colorful pillows I was able to keep the bright ikat fabric on the cornices and lumbar while still maintaining a softer vibe for the room. Switching from the polka dot curtains to natural burlap panels also helped me achieve a softer look.
I wanted to keep some interest but I found it with texture as opposed to all that color…
gold flecked throw pillows, linen lampshade, chambray headboard, waffle knit blanket, patterned duvet, and a jute rug.
And I did keep a few touches of black around the room…
*More on my mini cabinet makeover later!
This larger cabinet houses all of my fabric samples and other supplies.
I found the woven wall hangings at HomeGoods and although they were meant for a client I just couldn’t part with them!
And here I am just working away 🙂
I used to spread out my things on our dining room table but now I always work at my desk.
I love how clean and organized it feels and I truly get more done when I am in this room.
A little refresh makes all the difference.
