I am so excited to share this reveal with you guys today! My projects all vary and some take longer than expected or life gets in the way for my clients and they end of taking a break before purchasing all of the pieces I have recommended. This means that I can’t always share the final reveal with you guys and it pains me. So when I leave a project and all the pieces are in place nothing feels more rewarding! These clients (#windstreamproject) were particularly easy to work with, in fact I told them several times I wish they could be the model for everyone in the future. I understand the unexpected hiccups of life, but if it’s possible there are three keys to working with a decorator (for your sanity as much as theirs):
Know your budget
Trust their Suggestions
Place as many of your orders at one time as you can
I could write an entire post about those tips, and probably will one day soon, but they really are the key to have a smooth and timely experience! Ok, enough about these awesome clients, let’s get on to their awesome room!
When I came on the scene the room was pretty much a blank slate. All we were working around was the existing paint, which I loved so it wasn’t a problem. As far as direction they told me they love earthy elements like greenery (score!), natural wood, and pattern. Music to my ears!
First order of business was to find a table that worked for the space and fit their family of 4.

Storage was also key in this room. Like a lot of us with small kids, this room serves as dining room but also toy storage. And they had some overflow kitchen items that needed to be housed here so we had to have pieces that worked overtime. We decided to go with this shelf so they would have pretty open storage as well as a place to hide the crockpot and larger dishes.
This buffet is my favorite piece in the room. I love how the tile detail on the front adds just enough interest without being too ornate. Hidden behind the doors are games, coloring books, and even a stash of hairbows for the quick morning dash out the door.
They like to host friends and family so the bar area took focus. We combined the buffet with these cool wall shelves to give them easy access to everyday barware. It was also another place to infuse a little of their eclectic style with these African baskets and more greenery, duh.
Because my clients are awesome (did I mention that already?) they are cool with me sharing product information and this is your lucky day because we scored the deal of the century with this rug!
More often than not when I walk into a final install and my clients see plants they go pale. I feel ya, I’ve tossed my fair share of brown, wilted greenery too, but a room is just not complete without something living. Nothing else can bring that relaxed organic feel than fresh greenery. I try to choose plants that are low maintenance and/or inexpensive. Now, with that being said I am sure you spied that beautiful fiddle leaf fig back there. They aren’t known as exactly low maintenance, but my client was willing to give it a try.
*Tip: At the greenhouse where I purchased this FLF I was told to give the plant time to adjust once it is brought home. Some leaves may fall but it’s no reason to panic. If the leaves continue to fall after a month you need to find a new spot. Never place one near a vent or heater and don’t overwater!
If I can’t talk you off the ledge about live plants can I at least make a case for adding greenery in the form of fabric?? I love this print we chose from Tonic Living for the roman shades.
I love how that shot captures all the texture going on in the room! And speaking of texture this mirror add just the right amount of glossiness to the rustic space.
