Hey blog readers! You’re a rare breed- feel very special! Since you have come to read a blog post rather than just get the snippets on social media I feel that it’s only right that I give you some behind the scenes info. Before I get to the juicy stuff though I want to give you a little insight into today’s post. I rarely post on the blog just because I am too busy with client work but sometimes things come along that are too good not to share. Sleep is a topic near and dear to my heart so when I had a chance to try out a new mattress from Solay Sleep there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to give it a whirl, blog about it, and *hopefully* sing from the rooftops if my sleep improved.
I never had a problem sleeping until after having kids, like many of you parents, and it has been one of my biggest stressors. I have learned ways to reduce the anxiety and calm my mind but that was only half the problem. I was also tossing and turning every night due to our old sagging mattress. And here is where our secret comes in….I have debated whether or not to share this because I am sure there will be a few who judge but at the end of the day when I want to say something I am almost incapable of keeping it in so here goes…Taylor and I have been sleeping in separate beds. Don’t jump to conclusion people! Our marriage is doing just fine but as adult humans we need sleep to get through the demands of our day. While I could tolerate our mattress, Taylor was waking up so uncomfortable he took to sleeping on the floor a couple times. That was ridiculous so he ended up sleeping in our guest room a couple times and well it just stuck. Being busy we put off shopping for a mattress and just kind of fell into this new normal.
It was high time to find a mattress that both of us love so Solay Sleep to the rescue! Their mattresses are created with all kids of cool features to ensure a good nights rest. Here in their words…
Our combination of coils, breathable foam and cooling gel keeps heat from being trapped and allows you to sleep cool all night long.
The Solay mattress lets you sleep soundly with hundreds of Quantum ® Edge pocketed coils for motion transfer reduction and active support.
Whether you sleep on your side, back or stomach, our adaptive foam and supportive springs help you find your most comfortable position.
I was hesitant at first to order a “bed in a box” but after reading the reviews and multiple mentions of the cool factor I decided to try. And if I’m being completely honest we really loved the idea of the mattress coming to us rather than loading up the kids and heading to a store. The box arrived with easy to follow directions:
I called in my sister for help unboxing but honestly it was not hard at all! We opened one end and just tipped the box up to slide out the mattress.
After using the provided straight edge to unseal the plastic I began unfolding the mattress. You can hear the air escaping and the mattress quickly begins to unfold itself.
Once it’s laying flat you just have to slip the plastic wrapping from underneath.
They suggest allowing 3-4 hours before sleeping on your mattress so it has ample time to plump up. This was right after unboxing and it was already looking good!
I could not wait to dive into my new bed that night! As soon as I laid down I could feel a major difference. Where my old mattress sagged, my new Solay Sleep mattress completely contoured to my body. I am a stomach and side sleeper and I didn’t feel any of the pain in my neck and back that I used to. But obviously the real question is, did I sleep through the night better?
The answer is…YES!
My love affair with my bed is back! In fact I find myself coming up with excuses to sit in my room to work, read, or catch up on tv.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the mattress lived up to the reviews. I was not hot, in fact I ended up adding a blanket to my bed because I got a little cool during the night (because we love turning our air down really low!) I guess the biggest thing I noticed during the night was…NOTHING! I just woke up refreshed and a little in shock that I had slept peacefully through the night.
And I know the burning question- what about Taylor? The truth is, because I want to keep it 100% honest, he hasn’t slept a full night in here yet. He has had a cold/allergy issues that keep him up coughing and sneezing so he is being considerate to me and still shacking up in the guest room. But I have caught him a few times napping in there and he said so far he is liking the new mattress. He will test out a full night this week and I will be sure to update you guys on his reaction!
Make sure to follow along on my insatsories for updates and more peeks at our room! And follow Solay Sleep on their Instagram and their blog for even more testimonials and feedback. Sleep is my favorite thing in the world and I would never steer you wrong- this mattress is proving to be just what my back needed and I am starting to believe that maybe just maybe my sleep issues were due to sleeping on the wrong one for so long!
