{Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4}
The official participants have been making leaps and bounds in their progress and there are sure to be some crazy-good rooms! I will definitely do a recap of my favorites when this is all said and done!
Linda, of Calling it Home is the mastermind behind the One Room Challenge and I just want to take a minute to give her credit for coming up with such a fun series. I love that one woman’s idea has caused hundreds of bloggers to get their butts in motion for the last 5 weeks 🙂
How is it going? Are you happy with your choices?
Oooooookay, so I have discovered that I may have mental issues through this round of the ORC. Remember last week when I was doing the happy dance over my wood…
Remember we already have a farm style table that is made of an old-looking wood so I was afraid of going too rustic. I felt like we needed more of a modern punch. And I have always loved simple white shelves where the accessories do the talking. This was not the time for me to become paralyzed by design choices! In addition to questioning my shelves I started to re-think the paint color. Taylor offered to paint and that got my wheels spinning. I had never planned to change the color because I love the breezy feel of the turquoise that’s in there but, if he was offering to paint I could totally change gears and do something dark and dramatic. Go big or go home??
And then I saw this watercolor mural (via 6th Street Design School) and about died. Maybe I should try to recreate something like that?!
I second-guessed every single decision I had made. I begged my friends for opinions. I told taylor all of my doubts and forced him to give me answers. And then I just walked away from the room and slept on it. The one and only tried and true solution. And slowly the next day I started making decisions. And you know what? I ended up right back to my original vision. Well, most of it. I did change some things up but, otherwise I am back on track. Without giving away any of the details since I want to save all the fun for the reveal, I will tell you that I kept the paint color and decided on the black and white fabric for cornices. We also hung the shelves and by we I mean this guy….here is how he was feeling after counseling me…
Make sure to come back next week when I can finally show you the finished pictures! I waffled a lot this week but I am glad I reverted back to most of my original plans because they really are true to me and I think (hope) they are going to be great!
Make sure to check out all of these other ladies who are linking up. There are a lot but, it is worth your time to click through them. There are some really talented people working on crazy transformations!
