I don’t usually post on weekends unless I have something worth sharing and it just so happens that this Saturday I have a design board I am dying to share! I love finding things that look fresh and modern but that will still be in style down the road. I am over at DecoraUSA sharing my take on a bathroom that has a little edge but won’t feel dated 5 years from now. Go check out my modern traditional bathroom…
a great new way to search for decor items
You guys, have you heard about Resembl? It’s a new search engine that is perfect for all of us visual thinkers! I have been working with their team and here are their exact words on how Resemble works…
“The team at Resembl wanted to build a better search engine for stylish products that are difficult to describe with keywords. So with Resembl, instead of searching by keyword, you can click on a product and immediately see visually similar products by style, material, color, etc. The search results are accurate because their algorithm was developed in collaboration with interior designers. It’s a lot faster than scrolling through 1000s of products on Google Images or Pinterest. Resembl launched last year and is currently focused on home décor with over 100 brands.”
So basically when you see a picture of something you really like, say, a metal console table, you can click on the image and Resembl will automatically generate any table similar in style/color/material. Cool, right? It cuts down on a lot of web surfing. I am so excited to share with y’all my curated collection today. I focused on one of my very favorite comeback kids…BRASS! Imagine searching for “brass accent tables” and seeing this pop up…
grown up lighting in kids rooms
I absolutely love decorating kids rooms. They are my favorite spaces to dream up for sure! One trick I use again and again in designing a space for a child is to incorporate “grown up” pieces. This means that I may use a more sophisticated rug or an abstract piece of art to balance out all the other kid elements. I love the look of mixing expected and unexpected elements in this way and it’s a great method to create a space that can easily transition as the child matures.
Today I am over at DecoraUSA posting about some unexpected lighting choices for kids rooms. I whipped up some design boards to show how “mature” lighting choices can work in nurseries now and transition to big kid rooms later. Here is my girl design but you’ll have to hop over there to see the boys!
