chan & cameron’s rehearsal dinner
We all know how hard middle school can be. Especially for girls. That is why I feel so blessed to have found my best friend in the 7th grade. Two little nerds that somehow stumbled across each other and forged a friendship that will last a lifetime. When you see my best friend Cameron you will not believe that, a). she had an awkward stage and b). that she is not a visual person. She is drop dead gorgeous and is always so well put-together. But, I am here to vouch for the fact that she at one time was lanky and dorky and has never really been able visualize an idea. She is so talented in other ways and is the best kind of friend you could ever wish for. Case in point, when she asked me to plan her rehearsal dinner. Her groom chose a spot that he felt would be perfect for a casual, beachy oyster roast. Complete with a great view of the inlet, Goldbug Island is a great location but inside the room is sparse and leaves a lot to the imagination. Cameron claimed she just couldn’t visualize anything to spruce up the room but secretly I think she just knew it would be a dream project for me.
I wanted to create a night that would be casual but special. I also wanted to include personal elements that would make the night memorable and that would serve as keepsakes after the big day. The best part of the night for me was seeing Cameron see the room for the first time. Seeing her happiness and genuine appreciation made it even more special for me. I enjoyed working on all of these ideas and doing it for such a special friend made it all the more rewarding. Me and the beautiful bride…I swear she had an awkward phase!! |
Some of my favorite elements of this party were the peanut bags (“P” for her maiden name Parker as well as new married name Pons. And peanuts….and party!), the little vintage white pitchers, the hanging vases tied to the cross beams, and the s’mores station. I also made the yarn-covered letters that can now be displayed in their home. The pallet bearing pictures on the note-writing table added to the rustic yet personal feel! The letters were a really simple DIY project…
