Back in January I visited Costa Farms with Lowe’s and it was like entering a secret garden, except instead of a a small garden it was acres upon acres of farm land. I felt like I got to go behind the curtain and see how plants are produced on a large-scale basis and while on paper that may sound boring it was actually really cool!
Even their offices had envy-inducing arrangements!
Costa Farms prides itself on staying on top of plant trends (yes, they exist!) and when we visited they were hosting their annual season premier event. Think horticulturalists to breeders…the place was crawling with plant enthusiasts!
We went on several tours of the facilities and I especially loved seeing the baby plants…
The She Shed they had on display was definitely a favorite as well….
And of course, I found the succulents!
Our day was capped off with a beautiful cocktail hour sponsored by Monrovia…
I left with loads of inspiration for this spring season and as luck would have it I am going to get to put some of that use very soon. As you know, I am working on a Spring Makeover with Lowe’s (catch up here) and I wanted to give you some updates today! We chose Gentry and Hadley, who have just moved into a brand new house here in Charlotte. They have a complete blank space inside and out but decided to use this makeover to add some personality to their new backyard. They have a patio and screened in porch and, with our good southern weather, I am sure they will spend a majority of the next few months outside!
Our makeover is scheduled for mid-April so I don’t want to give away too much just yet but I thought it would be fun to share the design boards I sent them.
We went through these options and came up with a design that’s kind of a meld of all three. I also have plans for some trees and container plants to help give their blank slate color! The only sad news so far is that their HOA would not approve a “She Shed” which was so sad as I had plans to create a fun painting studio for Hadley but moving on. I am so excited to get out there and dig into this space, literally!
Are you making plans for your spring space? Any good tips or products you are loving? I would love to hear in the comments!

Also, don’t forget to enter the design board & itSums giveaway. Winner will be announced tomorrow at 6:00 am EST!

What a fun and inspiring day and I can’t wait to see the makeover – love them all, but the bar cart in the 3rd one is my favorite! Happy Wednesday, Beth!

That lantern chandelier is A-Mazing!!! Love all your design plans, and what a fun “field” trip! Could there be anything better than a day among plants that ends with wine?!
