Last week I showed you a couple of snaps from around my sister’s house. It’s a remodel that they have poured themselves into over the past year. They chose so many cool details including a barn wood sliding door, kitchen cabinets painted in a light blue, and even found way to keep a brick column in their kitchen that was part of the original build. All of this has given the house a distinct rustic vibe and they continue to decorate with a traditional/industrial style. One room that they haven’t gotten to yet is the foyer…
The light is the only thing new to the space but, obviously, the rest is a blank space.
I love little areas like this so I have been dreaming up some plans.
My sister likes simple uncluttered decor so I chose just a few items that would be functional in the space. A rich brown console could house baskets for concealed organization as well as a place to lay the mail. A chippy paint mirror over the table would add some color and personality and fits with some of the other rustic details.
I would add a durable striped rug keeping with the same blues and teals found around the rest of the house. I feel like a small room such as a foyer is the perfect affordable way to add some wallpaper to your house. Since I know my sister doesn’t like a lot of bold pattern I chose a simple textured grasscloth. And finally I found this great “5” hook for keys. They are a family of 5 so I like the sentimental value in the number.
Here are the pieces I used if you want to recreate the look in your own home!
