It’s been awhile since I’ve shared any updates from around my own house. I really kind of stalled out on any plans around here for a while. For a long time I was in the mood of if I can’t renovate I don’t want to do anything at all. After the whole moving/not moving debacle (see a couple posts back) I decided I was ready to approach things again, starting with my living room. Instead of an all or nothing mentality I reminded myself of the fun just a few tweaks can be. Last time I shared my living room it was looking like this…

What I really loved about this space then:
the navy rug, the black & white photos, the light, and the lamps
I still have some of those “place holder” pieces that I use just because we have them (see decorators do that too!) and I wasn’t looking to make any huge changes (except for that renovation, ha ha!) But, that all changed when I lucked up on a pair of chairs at a warehouse sale in the spring. They are the prettiest mushroom/hunter green and they completely changed the room. The navy rug, as much as I loved it, clashed with them so it got rolled up. The beige IKEA chair also left and I purchased two of the cutest block-print ottomans. When I decided to regroup on this room I started by finally buying this rug that I love so much!
It is a herringbone cowhide rug and I have heard they are great for high-traffic areas. I love that it has subtle pattern without being too distracting in the room because y’all know I like to keep my options open when it comes to rotating in pillows and art! I also FINALLY just painted that old espresso brown console. I debated buying several different ones but I just couldn’t commit so I decided to start by painting this one and I am actually happy with it for now.
As I type this I am not sure if the striped mantle wall will stay or go. I asked for your opinions on my Instastory and most of you said paint it. I am 99% sure I am going to paint over it this weekend just depends if I have time. I am considering a faux shiplap treatment like this so it looks more like this:

All of these changes in the living room are spilling over to the dining room too. I decided to paint that room taking it from an airy aqua blue to a warm neutral gray. If choosing the color doesn’t kill me I will share that room as well next week. I am taking part of a fall tour next Thursday so the clock is ticking but Lord knows I need pressure to just finally do the things I think about. Wish me luck over the next 7 days as I attempt to put these rooms back together and get them photo ready!
What are y’all working on in your homes? I better yet, make me feel better and tell me what you’re putting off?!
