When I read a blog I like to know all kinds of dirt on the author.
It’s only right that I share some here…
1. Why the name designPOST Interiors?
I think the name of a blog(or any business!) is super important which is why I came up with this one while having beers with my husband. We were visiting Amelia Island, FL and drinking a beer in one of the oldest original bars in the country. Amid deep thoughts about the pirates who may have drank there we started discussing possible names of my blog. designPOST had been floating around in my head because it stood for these four words:
Plan Organize Style Transform
My maiden is Poston too so it gives it a little sentimental value.
2. How would you describe your style?
I don’t feel like I have a good condensed answer for this yet. I am constantly getting inspired by all kinds of decor and finding things I like about modern, traditional, bohemian, beachy, glamorous, and vintage. Usually when I decorate the rooms tend to be a mix and match of traditional and eclectic and most importantly comfortable!
3. How would you describe your own home?
A constant work-in-progress
4. Favorite places to shop?
Anywhere that I can find something unexpected; flea markets, garage sales, HomeGoods, and fabric stores. There are two types of people: those who like to plunder and those who don’t.
I am a plunderer.
And fabric always sparks new ideas.
5. Favorite vacation spots?
The best and coolest vacation I have ever been on was to Cuixmala, Mexico. We went for a wedding and it knocked my socks off. In real life we will never be able to go back so my trusty spot would have to be Charleston, SC. Sullivan’s Island to be exact.
6. Biggest inspirations?
Traveling and magazines always give me inspiration.
I also just love anyone who is creative…jewelry designers, Etsy sellers, painters, bloggers, musicians, chefs, etc. etc.
7. Where can you be found on the weekends?
At this stage in life we can usually be found at a birthday party at the local
bounce house or play gym. So shoot me basically.
If we don’t have a kid-centered activity I still love to wander TJ Maxx or work on something in our house. We do a lot of eating and lounging between spurts of parenting.
8. Favorite part of decorating?
Everything. Literally love everything about this “job” and can’t see myself getting tired of it anytime soon. I love the brainstorming, shopping, interacting, and of course seeing the results of my ideas.
9. Least creative job you’ve had?
Telemarketer for my college’s alumni fund. Horrible awful job and breaking my wrist turned out to be a God send as I couldn’t type, therefor do the job any longer!
10. Favorite tv show, music, food, and color?
As of right now: Modern Family is the only non-reality show I watch otherwise it is every trash show you can think of, anything by Adele or NeedtoBreathe, french fries with vinegar, and all shades of blue
So let’s see, what else is there to tell ya? I am a Carolina girl, born in South Carolina and have lived in North Carolina for a majority of my life. I have also lived in California and Florida. Those places played a key role in making me a beach girl at heart and I will forever have dreams of living in a beach bungalow where hair washing is optional and we can eat outdoors year round. I also love food, my iphone, music, gingerale, and my girlfriends. I am known to be sarcastic, emotional, and energetic. I have worked numerous jobs none of which let me use my creativity and I am never going back! I met my husband in college but we never dated until after we graduated. I say he stalked me, he says its the other way around. Agree to disagree. I have been married for 8 years this November (2012) to Taylor and we have 2 rowdy boys, Oliver and Sullivan. As crazy as I feel most days I don’t think my baby days are behind me just yet but we will just have to wait and see.
*Update…the baby days are definitely not behind us as we have a baby girl due this fall!
