Your entry way is the first thing greeting people as they enter your house so it should definitely set the tone. I don’t have a formal entry or foyer but recently worked on this project in my sister’s house. We styled her entry with some of my tried and true “entry way essentials.” Here is the break down so you can recreate in your own style in your own house.
1. Lighting: don’t just settle for what came with the house. Jazz things up with something more eye-catching like this geometric open pendant.
2. Continue making a statement with a lamp. Every entry needs a variety of lighting and a unique lamp helps add that warm glow, not to mention a little height to the console.
3. Every room needs something living and that includes the entry way. For this project we simply brought in some branches from her yard but you could always go with a topiary, fresh flowers, or even a small potted plant.
4. Texture and color is what gives a room life! Pull from the other colors in your house to create a good intro to your home. Bring in color with textiles (store those extra throw pillows!), florals, a rug, and accessories.
The most important function of an entry way is to provide a place for mail, keys, and other things that pile up when you come and go. Having the right accessories to act as catcalls is crucial. Here is a round up of some of my favorites that will add personality without breaking the bank.
Remember: your piles of junk don’t have to look bad!
