One of my least favorite tasks is packing lunches each day! This year I have decided to let my kids help in this department and I have figured out a way in which they can easily pack a well-balanced lunch on their own. I don’t claim to pack all-natural, unprocessed, nonGMO, etc. lunches but I do my best to offer some healthy options and teach my kids to eat a variety of things.
I started with my blank pantry door and these supplies:
drill
paint roller
chalkboard paint
chalkboard clips
chalkboard pens
wire coated shelf
(too large to be pictured but I bought this one here)
I started by painting the entire door in black chalkboard paint.
Make sure to wipe down the door to remove dust and dirt before painting.
I also used a plastic scraper to remove a couple of places of chipped paint and leftover stickers…kids man.
3rd shelf: bars
My kids are not big sandwich eaters so I pack a lot of bars.
The Raw Crunch bars were included in my last Friday Favorites because they are so good and made locally here in Charlotte!
4th shelf: water bottles & snack bags
I plan to have the kids pack their lunch boxes each evening and I will only contribute if they request a sandwich or soup or another “entree.” I also love that it can be a counting activity for my kindergartener and more than anything, it is teaching them responsibility. And less work for mama!
