Six years in and I still get so nervous before a client meeting. Just this week I had two design presentations and I went through my usual run of emotions beforehand….completely anxious and convinced that the whole thing would be a flop. Sometimes I think about those first few brave paying clients and cringe. I would walk in and try to talk them through my vision, and my style, and what I could put in the room. I figured I could verbally convince them I was the woman for the job. I quickly realized that people wanted less talk and more visual inspiration so I stared implementing as many images as I could…virtual design boards, fabric samples, paint swatches, and portfolio books. You may remember my first edition in this post:
I partnered with SnapBox on that project and quickly fell in love with their products. Yes they’re great for your usual photobooks and printed images but they can also bring a lot to your small business. That’s what I found when I added their 4×4 art prints to my presentations. I put them in a small album and they have been a great way to show my clients pretty images to get their wheels spinning. I decided to add on to that and try some of their lay flat photo books.
These 6×6 books have a hardcover making them durable enough to throw in my workbag and they have true lay flat binding meaning they stay open while you look at each page. The photo quality is perfect!
I made two versions; one of actual projects and the other a compilation of Instagram snaps. The project photos give my clients an actual example of my work and the Instagram photos give them more of a sense of who I am. I think relating to your designer’s personality is just as important as falling in love with their design style. With these books my clients hopefully get a sense of both.
It’s important for any small business owner to continually hone in on what works and build on that. I am so happy to have found a company that not only helps build my brand but who boasts a team of individuals who could not be more helpful. If you are looking for a way to add a creative touch to your business definitely check out Snapbox products!
Snapbox provided the lay flat photo books for this post but all opinions are 100% my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that support designPOST interiors!
