Hey friends! If you are coming over from my gal Claire Brody welcome! I am writing this post ahead of time so I have yet to see her tablescape but I can predict that she worked some kind of magic on thrifted items, used an amazing moody color palette, and generally knocked it out of the park. That’s just how she does it! For me, Thanksgiving has worked it’s way up my list of favorite holidays over the last few years. It’s kind of a sneaky holiday, laying low without a lot of gifts or flair until one day you realize that it’s the coziest holiday of all. Centered around my favorite foods before the mad rush of December is upon us. Yep, it’s my favorite.
Thankfully my friend Lindsay of The White Buffalo Styling Co. started these Blogger Stylin Home Tours so we can share all kinds of holiday ideas and peeks of our homes. Let’s get to it…
This year I wanted to set a table a little differently in my house. I will be hosting my side of the family so I will need extra seating in addition to our dining room and I have always wanted to eat next to a fireplace. I decided to throw up a small cozy setting in our living room…
I played around with some layers: a gold shimmery table cloth, grey block print runner, mustard yellow fringe placemats (laid vertically), and white plates.
I also brought in more textures and finishes with gold flatware, a wooden cake stand, and pumpkins.
I could not resist these candle holders from Nate…
And today I promised Part 2 of my grocery store flowers. If you missed Part 1 I shared how I make easy arrangements using cheap grocery store flowers mixed with some fresh greenery from my yard.
Part 2 is that you wait for your flowers to die. It is the one time you can get excited about the fact that you didn’t change the water or sit the vase near enough light. When they die you get to have fun with the dead petals. I just stripped off the petals (I skipped the berries) and sprinkled them on the chargers. They would look great sprinkled down the center of a table too!
And this was the perfect time to whip out my vintage napkins scored on my trip to Scott’s!
I am all about traditions and making people talk about their feelings so I thought it would be a fun idea to place a pumpkin and monogrammed card at each seat. I used a mini cutting board at each place setting as well for another rustic touch. Plus, wouldn’t it be fun to have your own mini board to cut and butter your roll?? #itsthelittlethings
Inside you can write a little “thank you” note to your guest or give them a fill-in-the-blank.
Who doesn’t love to hear a compliment and holidays really should be about digging deep with the people you love. Turn off the phones, forget the clock, and focus on friends and family.
I can’t imagine anything better than getting to eat that Thanksgiving meal next to a cozy fire, drinking red wine, and sharing a little thankfulness with the people I love!
I hope you will all enjoy a relaxing Thanksgiving filled with food, laughs, family, friends, naps, football, and whatever else it is that makes your traditions special. Now hop on over to one of my favorite bloggers, Carrie of Dream Green DIY. I am so excited to join you and see what she has created!
