Awhile back I purchased the Hyllis shelves from IKEA for our living room.
I wanted something industrial-esque and for $15 a piece, I thought they’d be worth a shot.
I will say, they are pretty wobbily, but once you put some weight on them they stabilize.
They were super easy to put together and I love the extra storage they add to our room.
Here’s how I styled mine…
I decided to throw a rug under them on a whim.
I like how it warms up that corner and to be perfectly honest I have a real problem at leaving HomeGoods without a rug.
And Bailey likes it.
I kind of just layer as I go, but I always include:
baskets, frames, books, and some natural elements.
I bought that old glass bouy (that’s what the guy said it was) from a side-of-the-road vendor on the way home from the beach one time. And I found the piece of driftwood on the beach.
We bought that Eiffel Tower painting during our trip to Paris when we got engaged.
The baskets on the bottom house Taylor’s record player and records.
Can’t beat em for $15!
Here are some other ways I have seen them used via Pinterest:

your shelves look perfectly styled! I stare at these every time I go to IKEA and still haven't committed. I really like the look of them in that kitchen…gorgeous!

I love them in the kitchen too. Imagine them next to some open shelving…die!

Pretty! I wish I lived closet to an Ikea – mine is almost 2 hours away!

That's a crime! Although it would probably help my bank account if I lived further away!

It's really fabulous. The last image is quite impressive and I liked the way design imprinted behind the shelves on the supportive wall.
