Everyone has their vice.
Mine luckily is not one that will land me in Rehab with Dr. Drew.
Hoarders, yes.
It’s magazines. Specifically Real Simple. I started getting a subscription when we first got married
and I just can’t quit it.
I read them cover to cover within a couple of days but could never bring myself to throw them away.
I love the cover photos and they are always so full of good recipes and articles that I just know I might want to flip through them again one day! I know this is silly considering you can Pinterest or Google anything you need these days so why can’t I get rid of them??
I shared pictures of my living room this week and you may have notice that I have an entire shelf dedicated to my Real Simples…and that’s just a a fraction of them.
The rest are stashed in baskets and bathrooms.
So, should I get rid of them once and for all?
Donate them to my son’s class, the nail salon, or recycling bin??
What do you do with your old magazines-
read them and trash them immediately or save them like me?
If it’s not magazines, what is it that you have a hard time getting rid of?
What causes you major storage issues and how have you handled it?

Oh my, this post is meant for me!! I have several subscriptions that I just can't stop saving. I think I will go back in them and find new ideas or favorites. But, really, will I ever find what I am looking for? I need to purge. It really is a sickness of mine. And I am running out of space. I need to PIN more!! Good luck … I want to tell you to recycle, but I am having a hard time with this myself!! xo

I love my magazines. I used to subscribe to 6 of them. I discovered a few went out of business and a few changed their "style". I'm down to three. I keep them in my new "office" wall unit that MC built. I did discard many of the older issues….gave them to a friend, she was thrilled to receive them.

I'm so addicted to magazines. I don't think it's a bad thing though – we need to keep these peeps in business, right? I've started to hold onto my collection of House Beautiful (b/c that's my favorite) but the rest I've gone back to the oldest and started pinning everything that I love from the old magazines – I'll either pin or tear out ideas or interiors that I love and want to save. I still hold onto favorite issues, but my collection was getting out of control. I think it's okay to hold onto your RS.

I do love magazines too. I start most conversations with " I saw this thing in a magazine…" Ha!:) I started tearing out things I liked in magazines and putting them in plastic sleeves in binders. I keep the current month and the month before but then go through them when the new one comes in. For the recipes, I clip them and tape them in a composition book. My magazine collection was getting out of control and my house doesn't have much storage:(

Oh Beth, just this past weekend I went through the stack (tall enough to be my nightstand) next to my bed! I am down to 3 subscriptions, and I threw out almost all of my years and years of Bon Appetit. I really do look at past issues, I keep them organized by month instead of magazine – it seems to make it easier if I have all of Dec together and I want to check for holiday ideas, etc. Good luck! 🙂
