I thought I knew exactly what I wanted for my boys room but now I am totally confused. I know that, like everything in my house, I want it to have a touch of a coastal vibe but that still leaves lots of options.
Do I want the straight-up clean and crisp beachy look?

Or do I want a more rustic look with just a nautical feel?
None of those are exactly what I am envisioning but they give you an idea of the two styles I am bouncing back and forth between. I feel like you can do the “beachy” thing in a way that is really bright, bold, and clean feeling. Lots of stripes and happy colors. Then again you can do nautical in a way that feels more earthy with natural textiles. I can really see either looking great but I can’t decide which route to go. I actually even have a couple of pieces that I could use as a starting point for either style. So I need YOUR help!
Should I move forward with this striped rug as inspiration?
It has a charcoal background with bright primary stripes.
Or should I lean in this direction??
I have been holding onto these Allegra Hicks/West Elm curtains for a year and the rug was a gift to my husband. It comes from Europe, possibly Italy when his brother was living there??
I could even do a different rug but still use these more muted curtains that look like palm fronds/sea anemone.
Comments please!!
And while on the subject of the beach, my little break was awesome!
We stayed on the beach pretty much the entire time and the boys had a blast.
When we weren’t on the beach we hit up the local donut place and arcade…needless to say mamas and boys were happy!

I say stick with the stripes…might be more versatile going forward when they start having opinions about their room? Or do boys ever have opinions about their rooms…ha!

So far no opinions about clothes or their rooms 🙂 They just want sheets on their beds, ha ha!

I like the strips too. Can you incorporate some of the best from both styles? (I'm not much a theme girl.) I'm sure whatever you decide it will be adorable.

I am not into themed rooms either! I have a new plan now that will add a little of both styles…excited to share later this summer!
