I finally finished that pile of laundry and got around to completing my front porch challenge. Here was the state of things before:
I purchased this stool from Target a few years back and replaced the fabric with this yellow stripe. It has seen it’s better day!
I am a fabric hoarder so I had another piece laying around. A quick change and a wipe down and the stool is good as new.
It seems like there are always shoes everywhere!
I repurposed this wire basket I had inside for storage.
I used warm soapy water to wipe down all of the furniture and window sills.
I also did a good sweeping of the floors and corners for spider webs.
Looking much better…
One of my favorite things about our house is our hanging daybed on the front porch. I had my dad make it for my hubby for Father’s Day a couple of years ago and it is awesome. I purchased a twin mattress and covered it with a moisture protective cover. Then I just threw on a twin duvet cover from IKEA and some throw pillows. Not using outdoor fabrics was not the best call but it has worked for awhile. I washed everything for a fresh start to this spring.
My pillows are looking pretty sad but I have other projects I need to finish before I invest in new ones. Thats the real world for ya and a real budget! Once I decide to upgrade our fabrics to the outdoor variety, here are my contenders…

I put up my spring wreath which was a DIY project I did before starting this blog so I don’t have any pictures or fancy instructions but it was simple! I basically just accordian-folded paper, taped it together to form flowers and hot glued them to a cheap wreath. It has held up for a good three years!
My subtle note on the mailbox threatening anyone who rings the doorbell 🙂
This is absolutely my favorite “room” of our house and the icing on top today was that while I was cleaning up out there I heard the ice cream man. We have never had one come through our neighborhood so this was major. Oliver thought so too. Can you imagine discovering the ice cream man for the first time?!? Pure joy!
I still want to plant some flowers, add potted succulents, find a front door mat, and tweak things here and there but those things will happen gradually.
The other treat we have been enjoying in this nice weather is painting. Here’s my latest attempt at art…
So my porch challenge is officially conquered for now.
What kind of projects are you working on? Any spring cleaning?
