I have been compiling ideas for art for my boys’ room and the nursery. I stumbled across YouAreYourWords the other day and I love the possibilities. You upload any picture and then fill in words to describe the image. You can link up with your Facebook account to select random words you have used or copy a favorite quote. If you want, you can also type in your own 400 character description.
I went with the free-for all and chose an image of myself to go along with the words.
It was actually pretty hard to come up with 400 characters about myself but it was a fun little exercise. I chose to do just simple words and phrases to describe me:
wife. mother. friend. sister. daughter. sensitive. creative.
easily bored. loves to laugh. lover of food. looks for the good. optimistic.
kind. moody. tough. resilient. emotional. irrational. fiesty. a softy.
switzerland. friendly. curious. obsessed with decorating. christian.
over-thinker. sensitive. silly. not a morning person. night owl. relaxed.
organized. loyal. practical joker. teacher. welcoming. loves to travel.
dreamer. late sleeper. chip lover. sarcastic. happy surrounded by loved ones. happiest
by the sea…

I wonder if my loved ones would chose the same words?? Then I applied the words to my picture and here is what I got…
I can definitely see this working really well with a large close-up of my kid’s faces. It would be a cool way to memorialize some of their favorite phrases or funny things they have said!
There are options to upload your image or share it via Facebook. It would be pretty simple to save your image and process it through your own printer or an online site like Shutterfly (that’s who I use but there are plenty of others.)

I love this…just pinned it the other day and have been anxious to try it myself. Love the idea of doing with the kids pictures for their room! I bet it would look great framed with a colorful mat to pop some color in!
