Usually Thanksgiving is at my house but this year we have a brand new nephew to meet in GA so we are going to be guests instead of hosts. Trust me I am NOT complaining but when I saw this little table scene courtesy of Love Me Sailor, Mr. Caballero Creative, and Geronimo Balloons, I got a little sad that I won’t be able to pretty up my table here at home. I would offer to do something at my in laws but that might interfere with my plans to stuff my face and be all-around-worthless.
- Use a roll of butcher paper, like the picture, as your table cloth
- Pull out the fancy dishes, or better yet go buy a variety of plates from HomeGoods, TJ Max, or a thrift store and mix them up. The fancy china on the rustic paper would be the perfect combo!
- Decorate the table with tons of fall colored berries, flowers, and candles.
- MOST IMPORTANT step: create place cards for each person by tying twine around a couple of crayons and taping a small card with their name to it. Ask your family/guests to scribble on the table what they are thankful for. When the meal is over you can just cut out everyone’s messages and save them in a box (if it is your child you could always frame their piece of paper too)!
Imagine the memories if you do this year to year with your loved ones….would make for some great conversations and memories, two things I am always a sucker for! If anyone takes my subtle hint to do this please share pictures and stories of how it went!
