Today I am dusting off the keyboard to share another reveal with you! I made it a goal in 2016 to finally have some projects photographed and I am hoping to keep the trend going this year! This living room was one I started last year and it was a blast to watch it transform, especially because it didn’t break the bank to bring it up to date. They threw me a couple curveballs…for one I had to work around the red sofa. Well, to be fair they said I could swap it out if need be and my gut reaction was to get rid of it because I am just not a “red” person. Red is a very bold color and you either gravitate towards it or you don’t. I am a much more cool tone person but I decided to challenge myself. I actually ended up loving the color combo in this room and it made me have a new appreciate for this primary color.
Before:
First order of business was to lighten the place up with lighter paint, get rid of the dark bulky furniture and accessories, and bring the style up to speed!
After:
overall
All this crisp bright white is balanced by the rich warm colors on the couch. The red is actually such a pretty contrast and I love the tone on tone blues with it.
This wall behind the sofa prove to be another MAJOR challenge. It was basically hollow so short of removing this wall, and they weren’t ready for a reno, we had to find a way to decorate behind/above the couch without having to hang anything. I decided to move the couch out a bit so we could place a console table there. This way we could lean a mirror and also dress up the area with lamps and accessories.

This room is a perfect example of who you can transition an old piece by just updating paint and accessories! I love how it turned out and I would love to hear your thoughts!

This is amazing! I can’t believe that dark space was the same room. The blue and red look beautiful together and I love the mirror on the console.

It was a really fun “after.” The mirror definitely added some much needed light!

Wow, such a vast difference removing all the heavy and dark pieces in the room. I love the light paint colors and the large mirror behind the sofa.
Curious what you did with their built in bar area? Would love to see a pic.
Fantastic job. A perfect example of a little tweaking goes a long way.
Bravo.

The clients kindly asked that I didn’t include that area because it is still on the to-do list for down the road 🙂 It actually stayed exactly the same other than some new accessories. Their plan is to paint it white and maybe add glass doors eventually.
