My family has discovered something really spectacular- the late summer vacation. As staunch July beach-goers, we have always braved the crowds, prices, and dead heat along with thousands of others but this year we decided to go later to cut costs. Although this trip seemed so far away in June I am no so glad we decided to wait.
I have been out of school for longer than I would like to accept but yet every time the first day of school rolls around I get that same vague feeling of dread. Dread that the pool is closed, the grill will not be cranked up every night, and that the lazy beach days are done. Except that this year they aren’t! Just when the summer seems to be coming to a close we are going to go get it all revved up again. While other people are packing away their bathing suits we will be staying in ours into the late afternoon sun, drinking a cold drink, and talking away the hours. All the sounds of our busy life will be tuned out by the sound of waves…the best cure for the end-of-summer depression and I can’t wait.
There is no better place for me to relax and recharge. I will have peaceful time to just think and great memories to inspire me when I get back. And I can’t tell you how much I need that. My brain has been in auto drive lately and instead of being excited about any project I am feeling too overwhelmed to know where to start. I know I need a good relaxing vacation to just clear my head so I can tackle my list. And there is no better place for me to do that than my very favorite city: Charleston. I can’t wait to shop down there and get all excited about 4 million new things I want to add to the list. I will be back shortly with a nice, new, cleared out mind and I can’t wait to share it all with you…
