Hello from under my rock! I have had to take a big step back from the blog lately just to keep up with other parts of my life/business so I thought I would share a little bit of what I’ve been up to. I have learned that the only way for me to effectively run a decorating business, write & edit a blog, and maintain some sanity for my husband and kids is to recognize when to pull back on one area and the blog has been taking a backseat as of late. Luckily as I get older I feel way less guilt about these things.
Spring always seems to bring new clients and I have some really fun rooms in the beginning stages. Creating the initial design plans is the most time consuming part of the process so I have been super focused on sourcing products, choosing paint colors, and trying to keep my ideas fresh for each family.
Springs Mill
This family just moved in and it’s a total blank slate. We are working on their living room and breakfast nook and they gave me a lot of freedom with plans. They are drawn to more neutral colors and want the space to be livable and kid-friendly.
The breakfast nook is pretty simple…they just needed a new table, chairs, light fixture and window treatments. We are going with white and grey washed wood finishes for the table and chairs. The light is a pretty antique style orb and we are still deciding on fabric for the windows.
I put together several combinations to help them choose coordinating lighting.
The Chimneys
I’m helping this busy mama create an office space that houses all of her craft stuff, paperwork, and everything else that comes with kids and life. We are trying to make it as pretty as it is functional so the accessories like rugs and pillows are high on the list. Bottom left won (although it’s to pictured in my board)!
Art and window treatments are underway as well as a wall of custom built-ins!
Williamsburg
Another fun family that has basically said, “Just do your thing!” So I am doing my best to bring their out-of-date living room up to speed. Other than their red couch the room is getting a major overhaul. The walls have already been painted Agreeable Gray and furniture orders will be made this week!
The plan with the navy chairs is our winner but the coffee table will be different. We are also bringing in a pair of white bookshelves on the opposite side of the room so you know I am just giddy about styling those!!
So that’s a little of where my heads been lately! I am also wrapping up with my Lowe’s spring makeover project this week- the porch swing had to be hung and we ran into a few issues but everything is all set now and we just have to photograph it! And I believe a Mother’s Day miracle happened around here…Taylor told me he wants to rip out all the tile in our guest bathroom and wallpaper. See, if you talk about home decor long enough it finally seeps into their brains!
Thanks for hanging around while I post sporadically- I hope to be a little more regular this week but we shall see!
