We have two dormers upstairs and they create a perfect spot for a little reading nook. One of them is in the nursery and I have plans for it but the other is in our upstairs hallway and was just sitting empty. We have an old futon mattress so I decided to put it to use (because God KNOWS it is not going to be used anymore!!).
I slipped it inside a spare duvet cover I had and threw some pillows on for lounging. I also happened to have some paper lanterns left over from a rehearsal dinner I helped decorate, so I hung a few of those as well. I still want to add some pictures and maybe book ledges but for the time being my boys are loving their “hideout!”
Before:
It’s taped because we are still in the process of painting upstairs.
After:
A little brotherly love before they both started fighting over the book and
then proceeded to karate-chop two of the paper lanterns down.
Keepin it real folks.

You made me laugh! when my kids were little I knew the minute I would think … ohhh, how cute they are … it would disrupt like clockwork!! But at least you have photos to prove they look like this when being sweet!! Love your little nook for them! Motherly perfection! xo
