Over the last couple of years I have been trying to transition our house to reflect more of my taste. Although I have been the main decorator of our space in the past, I have gotten caught in the trap of impulse purchases, too much clutter, buying things that aren’t really “us”, and forcing certain items to work just because they were given to us.
I mentioned that this year I planned to specifically start creating a more white palette and so far I am loving the change! We went with Benjamin Moore’s Dove White and it is proving to be just the serene background I craved.
There are still lots of changes and updates to be made but so far I am happy with where we are heading. Brace yourselves for the dark cluttered “BEFORE”…
ugh…wall clutter…and just bad
friends don’t let friends hang curtains low with tie-backs…
trying to make the chocolate on chocolate look work…
AFTER:
{details to come on this little table re-vamp}
{my husband did hang the mirror eventually}
And in true blogger fashion,
I can’t leave you without letting you know what I still want to
accomplish in this room…

I think you have made huge progress! I am loving the stripes above the fireplace, and I think the castors are going to be awesome for the coffee table!

YOu've come a long way. I too painted my family room white and I love it. I do need a cool light fixture,though, among many other things. We are still looking at a boob light. Yuck.

Beth,
I love the reflection of you in this space … fresh, bright, clean and modern, with a touch of glam. So smart. Also so smart {wise} is your realization how impulse purchases, things that aren't you, and forcing things to work because they are gifts can **trap** you in a room that isn't you, doesn't meet your needs, and you don't love. Bet you're loving this space now! Robin
