I never like to miss a party, so I was thrilled when Linda, of My Crafty Home Life let me slip in late to a little hoorah she organized! She along with some other brave bloggers are attempting to paint a rug. We’ve all seen the trend and drooled over some of the results…

Well now I am going to join the fun and hopefully not make a fool of myself! I will be sharing my progress and results (eek) as I attempt to paint a rug for my house! Although I can think of a lot of rooms I would like to spruce up, I am going to make this rug for either my kitchen or mudroom. Those two rooms both need a lift and could use a rug that can handle some traffic. That being said here is my inspiration…
Love this version by The Fabulous Design Files.
She used a plastic playmat which would be perfect for a high-traffic, muddy, spill-prone area.
Wait, that’s my entire house! But anyways.
She did post an update here showing how it cracked over time
but I think a coat of poly could prevent that. (??)
I could also go for something like this…
VixenMade spruced up a utility mat which could really serve a purpose in my mudroom come the soggy days of fall!

Or do I want to go with trusty stripes on a natural rug??
I am a stripe girl through and through and this version reminds me a lot of the Dash and Albert rugs I love!

So I clearly have a decision to make and even while typing this post I have decided that my front porch may even be a contender for this rug! Thankfully Linda has created some deadlines so I will be forced to just bite the bullet and get started. I will be back Thursday with my progress.
Be sure to also check out these ladies and their progress as well!
Since I got a late start be sure to check out their first posts on what they are planning!

Fun inspiration, Beth! I loved that rug made with the playmats, but I remember her saying it wasn't great with the dog. Can't wait to see what you try, good luck!
