I know, I know. I said I was out! A couple of weeks ago the One Room Challenge began (ya know, the one hosted by Linda where everyone goes insane for 6 weeks making over an entire room) and I was swamped with life and work. I decided to be realistic and set limits for myself and therefor said no to participating this year. And then two weeks went by and my life started to calm a little and I decided that being realistic and setting boundaries took all the crazed stress out of my life. Why would I want that?!! As soon as I had a little time to think, I went back to my plans for our mudroom. It really does need help right now, more for functionality than looks. It literally looks like this most of the time…
My kids are not at an age where they can really grasp the concept of cleaning up after themselves, especially when the furniture in there just doesn’t function as it should. The cheap shoe rack is overcome with shoes so we are constantly searching for one that fell behind it or everyone is struggling to make room for their shoes. So, first and foremost the shoe situation has to be addressed.

i vote tan leather on the bench- wipeable! 🙂 what about abstract walls? and for the hooks- i think i prefer plain, but it depends on the letters… if you spelled something quirky i'd be down with it.
desingpostinteriors@hotmail.com says
There is a different plan for the walls but I am leaning towards leather too!

So glad you decided to join the Challenge Beth! I love mudroom makeovers and can't wait to see yours finished! Oh and a leather bench would be very cool 😉

I love the look you are going for! I vote for tan vinyl and plain hooks. I think the abstract would take it in a completely different direction. How are you tackling the shoe storage? May I suggest the Ikea HEMNES Shoe cabinet. You can store shoes and other small items. Good luck! You can do it! http://www.designbyrobinsnest.blogspot.com
desingpostinteriors@hotmail.com says
Thank you!! I seriously need the feedback!

Oh Linda…I blame you for this insanity 🙂 I just keep repeating your mantra…even if I don't finish I am further along than I was!

First of all you know I loved your spring ORC dinning room and glad to see you throwing your hat in the ring this go around! Second, I'm jealous you have a mud room! That one large piece didn't use to be in your kitchen? You've seen my limited "drop zone" space, so anything that you do will be great! I love the hooks from Anthropology that I got and the ones you've picked are fun! I considered the letter ones too! Sometimes its fun to be a little bit whimsical when you're children are still young enough to enjoy it! Can't wait to see it all pulled together!

It's going to look great! Love your inspiration board!
