Toot toot, the crazy train is pulling into town and I’m hopping on! I am sure you are all familiar with The One Room Challenge….20 bloggers making over rooms in 6 weeks and then hundreds of other bloggers joining in as linking participants. We all kick ourselves for taking part but secretly love the motivation to finally finish those rooms. I have joined in for the last couple of years…
Update here:
update here
Last year I decided not to do the ORC until the deadline was about two weeks away and I couldn’t take it anymore so I jumped in and had to scramble to finish in time!!
This year I was on the fence again because I wasn’t sure I had a spot in my house which I could makeover. Don’t get me wrong, there are lots of ignored areas around my house but the only one I felt up for tackling was our landing area at the top of our stairs. I started thinking this could be the perfect area to spruce up because it’s small and therefor wouldn’t cost a lot of money or time. But as usual, once I started scheming, the little projects were piling up and once my husband caught wind of what he “may have to help me with real quick” I was getting a lot of side eye.
In steps my life saver client….
While debating my landing I received an email from one of my favorite repeat clients asking if I wanted to help her with her nursery. She just found out she is due with boy girl twins and wanted to quickly transform their guest room into a dual nursery. Um, do I want to help? YES!! I asked her if she would be up for allowing this room to be my ORC project and she agreed!
So I am jumping in again and this time in a client’s house, like my first round. Doing this for a client is so much easier than doing it in my own house so I am very excited. And, a boy girl nursery…there couldn’t be a more fun room to work on!
We are busting a move to get this room done in 6 weeks and here is our vision board…
Her only request was for the room to be boho-glam and not too “baby.” We already have so many of the decisions narrowed down but I don’t want to give away the fun details just yet. This board gives you a good idea of where we are headed style-wise though.
And here is the room in it’s current state:
It’s what every nursery looks like before it’s a nursery 🙂
We are actually meeting today to look at fabrics for her glider and to make some decisions on a dresser makeover. Be sure to check in next week for more details! And I am always on Instagram so make sure to follow along there as well.
To see all of the brave people joining in this year head over to Calling It Home!

Oh Beth I just love this space you have planned! I've always wanted to do a pink and grey nursery, and the colors are perfect for a shared room! I've been eyeing a dresser like that for some time! So fun to go through another ORC with such a talented designer such as yourself! -Sarah http://www.sarahsofiaproductions.com
