I am still not through all of the ORC links. I am determined to see each and every makeover but with over 90 linking participants and 20 official gals, it’s going to take awhile. Not that I’m complaining- I am so excited to have pages and pages of design inspiration to get me through the next few weeks! I have participated in two previous ORC- once for a client (HERE) and once in my own dining room (HERE). This year I decided, then un-decided, to skip the ORC. With only two weeks to go I started a makeover to my mudroom and although it was a crunch, I finished!
One of my favorite things in the room is this little bench.
I used a pice of reclaimed barn wood that has great colors and “scars.”
A really sweet friend gave me several pieces of this wood during the last ORC when I was considering using it for floating shelves. I ended up changing directions in that room but, I knew I wanted to use this wood somewhere! The mudroom seemed like the perfect place.
To make the bench I simply had Taylor cut the wood into a 2 ft. long piece and then we attached the legs. Couldn’t have been easier!
I ordered the hairpin legs from this Easy shop:
They were less expensive than some of the other sites I found online and the quality/service was perfect! I went with the 16 in. legs in “steel.”
Most times you see this type of leg attached at an angle but, I decided to have them pointing more straight down. This room is so narrow and I didn’t want the legs to poke out and constantly trip us.
And like anything in my house, I have already played around with this bench in other spaces. Since its so small it works great in several spots. I especially like it in this little nook of my hallway.
And it provides the perfect place for Harper to open all of my apps and fill up my photo stream 🙂
