As summer approaches every year I find myself frantically trying to get a schedule in place. Schedules for summer camps, activities, meals, work, trips, etc. When my kids are out of school I get panicked about having time to do everything I need/want to do. One thing I have had to get better at since starting this blog is long-term planning. I realized pretty quick that if I am going to pull off this side job along with raising three kids I definitely needed to think beyond just the day/week/month. Now I try to think in quarters and it really helps keep me organized.
That little chart above is how I tentatively plan out my house projects for the year. Granted there are always little projects that sneak in but for the most part I try to (am going to try to) stick to this plan. For me, it helps keep me from getting started on too many things at once. It also helps assuage my fears that I will never get _________ done. I chose those specific rooms because:
Quarter 1:
{March, April, May}
Spring means getting outside after the long winter and also getting organized!
Quarter 2:
{June, July, August}
It’s summer so all of the kids are home and can help with projects in their rooms!
Quarter 3:
{September, October, November}
Fall rolls around and I want to nest in my room!
Quarter 4:
{December, January, February}
The start of a new year always means the goal of being together more as a family.
I like to spruce up these living areas so we can spend time together in rooms that we love!
Do you have a plan that keeps you organized in a long-term sense?
What’s your trick?

I like this strategy! I just have lists and more lists…and lists I forget to look at….ugh! Summer vacation is too long….Little Miss starts camp next Monday….phew! It's hard.

This is a great plan! I like how you scheduled it around the areas that you would gravitate to anyway during this those times. That means it is most likely to get done! I am inspired now to do my own plan.
