I have found that if I blog about what is really going on in my life I am never short for material. Case in point: my latest dilemma on my home office. If you have been reading my blog at all over the last few months you know that I am constantly talking about my future plans for my office. We have a three bedroom house with a playroom and right now both sons have their own rooms. I never really envisioned having a home office so I never factored that into the possible uses of our rooms. Secondly, we have two sons at different stages as far as napping and so that puts us in a holding pattern for combining their rooms. Third, we are not sure if we are done having kids yet so I don’t want to take up space that we may need down the road.
I want to have enough room for our kids, our guests, and my increasing amount of work-related stuff. I also do not want toys to be all over our house so a playroom or bedroom/playroom is a must and we have a lot of out-of-town guests so we need a place to put people. I constantly find myself pondering the different configurations of our house so I figured it would be good material for the blog. A place to weigh my options and hopefully get some clarity (I would love your thoughts and comments!)
Should I go all-in and create a work space in one of the bedrooms? I could make an office/slash guest room, keeping either our fold-out couch in the room with my desk or our guest bed (depending on how we arrange the boys).
OR…..
Should I utilize one of the little nooks in my house to create a hideaway-type work space. It would need to tie into whatever adjoining space and so would need to flow with our current decor. I would need to create some kind of storage as well either with the desk or in another part of the house. Storage for lamps, fabric samples, odds and ends, etc.
I am stuck on which option especially when there are images to convince me of either…
Team Bedroom Office:
I am pretty convinced that I would want a lucite desk if it is going to be in a small space.
A skirted desk/table would hide a multitude of things!
