I know I say this a lot but today’s reveal is one of my favorite rooms I’ve ever done! It checks all the boxes…pretty paint color, fun wallpaper, and lots of little layers. We created a playroom that would feel fun and whimsical for two little girls but that would have the pretty factor that makes mom happy. I think it turned out so well and I am jealous they got the daybed of my dreams!
Project:
#MyersParkPlayroom
The Challenge:
Create a playroom that looks pretty but allows for fun
Bring in more light
Bring in storage for toys
Create a spot thats comfy for adults when they’re in the room
Before:
After:
We chose to have all of the existing dark trim painted a clean crisp white. We also did away with the blinds and chose a soft floral fabric for custom roman shades. Using the dark green paint really makes the fabric pop!
The room needed some updated toy storage that would be easily accessible to my client’s daughters. They are still in the phase of toys with small pieces, sets, and dress up so a variety of bins and baskets help corral it all.
We didn’t want to cover up this fun wallpaper so we chose art that is floating in acrylic frames. The tassel garland adds just enough color!
My client really wanted pieces that looked “found” so we scoured local places looking for a cabinet that was just right. I love the glass doors and painted back of this one. It definitely could pass for a family heirloom!
The daybed was a functional selection (they wanted adult seating for when they are playing with the girls) but it’s obviously also the spotlight of the room! I love how the rattan brings in a natural element and tones down the color and pattern. And the pink ombre rug is the perfect plush addition underfoot!
We used this little nook to create a small library and a spot to sit. I love the reflection of the room in the convex mirror!
And as always the little details are my favorite…
I think this playroom is the perfect balance of kid-friendly and sophisticated. I certainly would not mind several of these pieces in a grown up space but they still work perfectly for two little precious girls!
