I have been slowly working on my master bedroom, although I am not sure why I specify the slowly part because, for the most part, that is how I work on every room in my house. I make lots of little spontaneous changes but, actually completing a room takes me forever. I am always tempted to hold back in my room because I really like a simple feel. I am terrified of over-decorating and creating a space that is not peaceful and restful because those feelings are what I want at the end of every day. I have kept the same pale blue color on the walls and have not added a lot of things to the walls as far as art and photos. Where I have infused my personality in through the bedding and textiles and they have added just enough spunk for me.
Lauren (my sister) created this lumbar for me and I found the metallic pillows at HomeGoods.
I found the duvet at HomeGoods as well. It was the catalyst for this latest round of changes. It’s made by Max Studio and as soon as I saw it I fell in love.
The one thing I am planning to change is the brown bookshelf. It ended up here but I am well-aware that the dimensions are wrong. I love that beach painting and I want something that works with it better. I am on the look out for a low white shelf. In the meantime, just squint and pretend it works.
Agate art…another HomeGoods score.
I think it’s really important to say that although my room doesn’t have everything I want…in theory I would love lighter furniture, custom built-ins, a true sitting area, blah blah blah, but this room makes me feel so peaceful. I don’t know if it’s the colors or the fact that my bed is like a nest, but I just love this room. As decor-obsessed as I can be, that feeling tops any trend, accessory, or want. And I feel sure that that feeling has come from me buying things I love and ignoring any rules. And speaking of rules, tomorrow I will be back to talk about how I broke “the rules” in this room! Come on back and find out the scoop!

It's always good when a bedroom feels like a nest. Love your bedroom too.

I have had girlfriends sleep over and they always tell me my bed is like a nest. All design aside, that makes me happy!
