The feeling in the air can change on a dime. Last week I was about to enter stress land which is never pretty for me. I was getting overwhelmed with the work/kids/marriage balance and being the emotional girl I am, I was about ready to crawl into a hole with Taco Bell. Actually, let’s be honest I did make a run for the border but then I pulled myself together. I medicated the only way I know how…with lists. I made lots of lists with things “take a shower” on them so I could check things off and feel productive. Then I ate tons of homemade chili (emotional eater, eh?), watched movies, and, hung out with my little people.
I also read all of my favorite blogs and ended up feeling so much better. I saw this post from Albertina at Mimosa Lane…she is so creative and talented so I am still blushing!! And then I read through the tons of comments from new and old bloggy friends and just felt all warm and fuzzy. I love all this female bonding and support! And it has totally amped up my excitement over the ORC even more.
But back to actual decorating…I mentioned my other skirted table way back when and then forgot to post pictures. What can I blame this time? My kids? Sure, I am sure it had something to do with them and not Taco bell.
So, I started with a cheap round decorator’s table and did this for fun…
DIY dipped-leg table |
But that table was always too small for the scale of our bed so I moved it out not long after. When I needed a side table for the guest room I wanted to bring it in, but the size still seemed too small. It needed a little something. Some oomph. I had some IKEA Berta Ruta fabric leftover from the headboard so I just cut it the right length and attach it using sticky velcro strips. No hemming or sewing…hells to tha yeah!
Easy, removable, and perfect for a little hidden storage!
What magic have you worked with velcro strips??

Cutee! Circular tables are a bit tricky, glad you did the drum-effect since pleats would definitely cause a lot of headaches to make! Great job Beth!

Thanks! Yeah, I would have never had the nerve to try pleats!

I love that fabric! And your idea is genius! Love the velcro strips idea. I know ORC is very exciting this time around. I can't wait till Wed. to see everyone's updates! You are so funny medicating with lists! That is what I do as well. It really helps with my anxiety issues.
