This year I really wanted a fresh live feel in my decorations.
I decided to just buy a bunch of greenery from my grocery store and see what lived longest.
I bought mums, berries, and thistle.
I also bought a couple of mini Christmas-y looking trees.
The red berry wreath is a HomeGoods score from years ago.
I can report that the mums are still going strong and my mini trees look great.
The thistle and berries bit the dust after about a week.
To replace the bunches each week would not be the most cost-effective decorating
so I am just sticking with what is living and then I added in some candles.
I have some gold friends hanging around.
Nope, I don’t need to dust at all.
And some old ornaments in bowls.
I’m keeping it simple this year.
On a side note…you might notice that my entryway table moved over here.
I like the set up better because it allowed me to bring back in those lamps I love.
But, I still want to add a few things…
But, anyways back to Christmas.
This next thing is my favorite thing of all.
I bought this from Oriental Trading Company forever ago and I just love it.
I like little collections for the holidays.
I’ve been picking up Santas for the last few years…
And that’s pretty much it around here this year.
I really took it easy on myself this year and I couldn’t be happier.
We all read those articles that circulate this time of year about
doing less, being more present, savoring the moments, etc. etc.
and they usually just stress me out and annoy me,
but this year I decided to just take the advice.
That also meant less computer time therefor not reading those articles 🙂
I came up for air from blog land and I am here to tell you that I survived.
I may have missed some great stuff but I know you all will crank out great stuff again and again!
I also took the less-is-more approach to my two December babies’ birthdays,
partly on purpose and partly because of jury duty, and I have to say
I am not sure why I stressed about parties all those other years.
My kids were just as happy and felt just as special without any Pinterest hype.
As I have mentioned before, life is all about seasons and I have decided I am in the season of
do less and don’t feel guilty about it
In fact I am a fan of everyone doing what works for them and not feeling guilty about it!
I am officially breaking for the holidays and won’t be posting again until it’s the new year,
but before I go I have to tell you all a big fat THANK YOU for reading and supporting this blog.
And for those of you local friends and clients, THANK YOU for trusting me with your projects and helping me get to do my dream job.
I am so happy to have made some great new friends this year through blogs
and I cannot wait to see where everything goes in 2014.
Hope you all have a happy happy holiday!
xoxo
