Oh, I know! Why do we all put our New Year’s resolutions out there?! I know most of us (ME!) fall off the wagon by the end of January but for some reason I love the organization of it. January always feel like a clean slate to me, so I like to start my brand new year with a “to do list.” If you were around here last year, you know that I kept my list short and sweet: MY 2012 GOALS. I liked that plan because it kept things manageable but this year I want to up the ante a little bit. I want to accomplish specific things this year and, knowing myself, the only way to start is with a list!
7. Organize the backlog of pictures on my computer
8. Streamline the way I clean my house
9. Plan a monthly outing with friends
10. Incorporate some type of service project with my kids once a month
Work
1. Only blog when I have something original to share
2. Keep posts to mainly my house projects or client projects
3. Increase e-design clients
There is a definite imbalance up there between personal and work and that is exactly what I want.
I love having my own interests and think it is really important to my happiness but I also want to be realistic about this chapter of my life….we are in the thick of family-life and it requires a lot of me.
I don’t want to ever look back and wish I had been more present.
Last year I noticed that blogging was starting to take away from my time with my family so with one extra kid now I want to be even more aware of how I am spending my time. I know that if I fill my to-do lists with the people and things that I really love I will have even better content to share here!
I was also getting away from doing actual decorating work. I didn’t seem to have time to do those little projects around the house and those were the things that originally led me to even start a blog! I have decided that for the immediate future I want to spend less time on the blogging aspect but more on the actual decorating projects. I am, by no means, stopping the blog, I just need to refocus where my time is being spent.
I will be working this year to make my decorating services even more organized and streamlined so that I can still do what I love to do in a way that works better for me and clients. One tweak is going to, hopefully, open the door to even more clients and make hiring a decorator a little more accessible to everyone. **(More on that tomorrow!!)
So what are your goals for 2013?? Are you sharing or keeping them quiet?
If you want to hold yourself accountable, mark your calendars for February 7th.
I plan to revisit my list and see how I am doing. Check back in and revisit your own list and let’s all keep each other motivated to knock out our resolutions!

I think there is a trend in blogging less and enjoying life more. I miss my grandma's and wish they were still here.

I am noticing that trend too! Something about a new year?? I absolutely love my grandmas to death and I always feel bad that I don't visit more! This is my year to stop feeling guilty and follow through with my good intentions!

You have really good freaking goals! Maybe I'll just steal yours since I haven't even had time to think of any myself 🙂

Hmm, I don't know why you don't have time?? Just a little going on at your house 🙂

Great goals Beth! I'm with you on posting less. Inspired posts rule, huh? I get posting about your design work but I REALLY love to see personal stuff on your family. I will cheated if I don't see Harper growing.
