Yesterday I shared a recent e-design and today I am back to talk about another client project I’ve got in the works. For this family I am working on their family room. They have a lot of mis-matched pieces and the room has turned into the dumping grounds for hand-me-down furniture. Another dilemma is the fact that their back door opens to this room leaving them without a mudroom or entry of any sort. Because their kids play multiple sports and they are an active family in general, lots of shoes are piling up.
This is not the only pile, by the way. I know the home owners are cringing at these pictures but real life is real life. And we are going to remedy this situation and then we will share the oh-so-beautiful after shots!
I am having to use my creative genes to figure out how to incorporate mudroom-type storage in their main hang out area. I want the room to feel like a family room with the jackets, shoes, and stuff as a side note. Here are some great inspiration shots of pretty storage.

This portion of the room is going to be the one that keeps me up at night but, I will figure it out!!
I am also working on their formal living room and it presents a whole other set of brain teasers.
Y’all know me, and I am not a granny chic kind of girl but, that’s where we are headed on that room. I started by suggesting this gorgeous navy lady…
Their first reaction was “No way, too dark!” but I am not sure I am done with my sales pitch 🙂
So have you had to incorporate storage in a room other than an entry or mudroom? What did you do??
By the way, did I mention that I am attempting a juice cleanse this week. I can’t even walk in my kitchen because I want to eat everything. I tried to quit after the first smoothie but, Taylor convinced me to stay strong. I made it through one meal at Chick Fil A so far without eating a single thing. Not even one fry so I feel pretty unstoppable but we will see what today brings!

we hvae no mudroom and use our kitchen to enter the house…. it's not the most ideal! one day we hope to have a mudroom added on.

This is such a great topic to address because in so many homes you walk right into the living space (including the house I grew up in.) Coraling all the shoes and making it look pretty is HUGE. You have great inspiration photos, I love the benches with pull out shoe drawers underneath!
