I am so excited to introduce the newest (and only other!) member of the designPOST interiors team!
This is one of the major changes I have been alluding to this fall.
For me, being creative has always been a solo thing. When I started this blog, I did everything my way and I have loved that. When your doing a creative job it’s hard to compromise on your vision.
But, as things have grown I have often thought about how nice it would be to have help and another person to bounce ideas off of. Luckily for me, my sister has a shared interest in interior design and a love of creativity. And being that she is my sister it immediately relieves any fear of being too disorganized or too bossy…she knows what she’s getting into 🙂
So I made Lauren answer some interview questions and she absolutely loved it, ha!
Here is a little more about Lauren and you can be sure to find out even more about over the coming weeks. We have lots of projects in the works and she is going to begin contributing to the blog from time to time.
Q: Other than being Beth’s sister, tell us about yourself? What did you do in your past life (before kids)?
I’m a mom, a wife, and a slightly older and more tired version of my young and creative self. Before I was tired, I was in the retail world- first, on the buying side of the industry and then later in a more hands on role as a visual merchandiser. Both had their perks and I loved the creative outlet it allowed for but… first comes love, then comes marriage, then came a baby (and then another baby!) in a baby carriage. Which brings us back to the present and the fact that my “babies” are now 2 and 4 and mama needs to scratch her creative itch and find a little something of my own again!
Q: Why get involved in a design blog/business? Have you always had the love too?
I have watched my little sis take nothing and turn it into something. Not just any old something either. I see the passion she has for it and it shows in her blog, her client’s work, and her annoyingly adorable house. How could I be around such infectious creativity and not be bitten by the bug as well?! I have always had a love of my own for all things pretty and witty and to be able to take those things and find some personal satisfaction, well, that’s a no-brainer.
Q: What are you most excited about this year in terms of designPOST interiors?
I have super low expectations these days. For instance, if I don’t raise my voice to the boys before noon I find a sense of personal achievement. If I put on my gym clothes and actually go to the gym- success. So it’s safe to say it doesn’t take a lot these days to get me pumped up. But to have the opportunity to be a part of designPost interiors and be able to share my vision or experience with someone else makes me realize what real excitement is! To have the chance to use a part of my brain that has taken a beating from incessant whining and diapers changes, now that is what it’s all about.
Q: On a typical weekend where would we find you? What would you be doing?
What weekend version do you want- the one with kids or without? I’ll keep it family- friendly…I am a true morning person so I literally go to bed excited to wake up the next morning and have that first cup of coffee. (Side note – I could do without the 6am wake up call asking for milk and Mickey). These days my weekend is full with our new house to-do list. We moved in a couple of months ago and despite the fact that the house is not a “fixer upper”, the list of things I want to do is endless. Inevitably I end up at Homegoods, Ikea, and the SouthEnd furniture shops. We also love to roam Atherton Mill or any of the Farmer’s Markets around town. We’re a pretty social family so we tend to end up doing something out with friends with or without the kids- VBGB and Triple C are our go-to’s. All in all, we love Charlotte and even though my husband and I grew up here we still find places to explore and enjoy.
So, as you can see sarcasm does not run in the family 🙂
Most of our conversations would probably scare people! We are 15 months apart and have always functioned more like twins, while at the same time being so different in so many ways. Where I don’t have the patience to put the top back on the toothpaste, Lauren can sit down and sew a pair of curtains and a couple of pillows without batting an eye. Where Lauren is more private and to herself I am the one who loves to meet a stranger…this has made for many interesting nights out together!
As we have always said we are the yin to each other’s yang!
I am excited for y’all to welcome her in as I know you will.
For the most part the blog will stay the same, written by me, but as I said Lauren will contribute some of her own DIYs and will definitely be helping me behind-the-scenes with design projects.
She will also be a huge part of the business as my head seamstress…yep, I am putting those sewing skills to use and she will be providing lots of custom options for clients.
Make sure to follow her as well on Instagram
you can find her HERE.
And come back tomorrow for our first joint project…it is HUGE!

You two are going to make a great team. And I love her Q&A – I will be over the moon with myself if I made it to noon without raising my voice to the girls. 🙂
