This post was born out of necessity. Easter is literally just days away and I don’t have a single decoration up. I have kind of moved away from holiday decor mainly just because I spend so much time decorating on a regular basis that I don’t enjoy the seasonal stuff as much anymore. But, I do like a pretty table and I think having one set for an occasion can make the whole house feel more festive. Luckily this year my sister is playing hostess but, I wanted to put together a faux place setting to show you an easy last minute way to make your table feel unique and colorful. All while staying inexpensive and easy! Two of my favorite words!
I love having a beautiful table with cloth napkins but I don’t always love the upkeep that comes along with cloth napkins. Am I the only one who feels kind of bad wiping my hands on them? And who has time to wash and iron or dry clean?? Instead of being stressed about keeping my napkin clean, I wanted to create a place setting that still incorporated a fun fabric but allowed me to use good ole fashioned paper napkins. There are so many fun printed ones these days that you can get away with using the disposable kind even on a special occasion.
craft foam sheet
(1 piece = 3 place settings)
(fat quarters are a great size/price)
TOTAL COST…less than $10!
I started by taking a sheet of the craft foam and cutting it into three parts…
Then I placed the cut piece of fabric on top of the foam and tacked down the corners with thumbtacks. Easy as that!
Now you have a fun little punch of color and pattern!
I can see using this same idea for a printed menu!
I added some other quick and easy elements to create a fresh and fun place setting…
I bought ranunculus (my favorite!) from Trader Joes and placed them in a bud vase and then stuck the vase in this precious little planter I found at Joann’s
How cute are those little feet?
I couldn’t find it online but, it is in Joann’s now with all of the seasonal Easter decor.
Fresh flowers, a small gold plate layered over my regular white dinnerware, and a bright tablecloth.
In this case I used a table runner which can be another great way to spruce up your table from the everyday. You can always find inexpensive runners at HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, and Target.
That’s my quick and easy Easter place setting and I think it would easily translate for a spring and summer table. I might just be motivated now to host another party?!
What are you doing to get your house Easter-ready?
