Yesterday I shared with you my client’s plum living room and obviously a big factor of this room was the addition of the color plum. It became our grounding point and any accessory I saw that was plum/eggplant I got excited. In fact, I still get a little flash of excitement when I see that elusive color until I remember that the room is finished. We searched and searched for the perfect fabric to make window treatments but never had any luck. We were close to changing courses when I had an epiphany…or more like an aha moment on the aisles of Target.
I saw these curtains, which had the perfect shade of chartreuse. I also love the simple pattern detail. And the cherry on top is their price- $29.99/panel.
They had enough detail to not be boring but I was also looking to tie in some plum.
We decided to line the curtains with fabric and trim them with ball fringe trim.
I love the custom look we were able to achieve…
This is such a simple way to upgrade your room without having to splurge on custom window treatments. We used a local alterations place- just make sure that the tailor is used to working with window treatments and the fabric types that you choose!
To find the exact right shade we ended up having to use a polyester fabric. Luckily my tailor is very precise and experienced so she was able to work with such a flimsy material and get the hem just right.
If you are contemplating a project like this I would recommend using a cotton duck fabric.
Just think of the possibilities…
