When it comes to being left- or right-brained I am definitely a righter. My brain never thinks in a straight line, and I still can’t do math above a second grade level. I have come to accept and appreciate this about myself but being “creative” can also be tiring. My brain never stops thinking and some of my ideas come completely out of left field. That’s usually why I like to plan a whole room and just put it together without a lot of explaining because if I explain my thoughts I might just scare some clients off! To share a little of how my brain works here is a train of thought I had the other day…
So, I am now really excited about the idea of using cutting boards to make DIY art in the boys room. If you are wondering who “the boys” are they are my sons who are currently in their own bedrooms but our plan is to move them into our playroom to make one big shared room. Anyways…I have tons of ideas floating around in my head about this room and now cutting boards are getting added to the list. I want some simple natural wood boards that I can either tape or paint with stripes like in my idea board up there. Something about them seems nautical to me and using cutting boards would be such an easy way to paint on real wood without having to cut, sand, and stain anything. Then I would just hang them with the double sided tape or a quick hook.
I had a contractor come by last week to give me some estimates on built-ins and some other projects that will be necessary to shift our rooms around the way we are hoping. I am anxiously awaiting his ideas and more importantly his estimates so we can get crackin! I plan to post our updates as we go but I thought I would share how my thoughts usually come together on things! Now my little right brain needs some rest.

I wouldn’t even mind the boards going up as is, with just the simple black/navy stripes.
In other news, I am headed back to charlotte today. I am sad but ready. I love when a trip is just long enough so you’ve had your fun but are actually kinda ready to get home.
I miss my little men and my feet are aching from all the walking.
Can’t wait to share some pictures and thoughts with you all!
