Ok, that sounds a little morbid! As far as I know I am not dying in the near future, I just simply mean when I am gone from their home. Not everyone can afford to pay someone to completely re-design their home and I get that. Sometimes clients just want a little direction. A perfect example was a recent client who wanted to spruce things up in her master bedroom without breaking the bank. Well, let me clarify, she originally didn’t care if it broke the bank but as our time went on she discovered she is pregnant. Suddenly her maternal instincts put the breaks on and reminded her that she would have a whole other room to think about over the next 9 months!
We decided to still go forward with her master project but we cut out a few elements. Her room turned out beautifully, but there are still some things she would like to add in the future. To help her keep the vision of the room even if I am not a part of it, I left her with some resources and direction. For her a crucial part of the room was a rug. Although we both felt this would really tie things together she had to make the decision to hold off while saving for baby #2. She knows for sure that she will incorporate a rug down the road so here are some choices I pulled for her. At the very least she will have a good visual aid while shopping even if these particular rugs are out of stock.
I also save these links and images in a digital file so that anytime over the next year that she would like to revisit the options she is able. You don’t have to be afraid to consider redecorating your home. It may start with just a lamp or new accessories. You can always revisit the project as time goes on. All you need is a clear vision of the final project to keep your room cohesive.
