I absolutely love decorating kids rooms. They are my favorite spaces to dream up for sure! One trick I use again and again in designing a space for a child is to incorporate “grown up” pieces. This means that I may use a more sophisticated rug or an abstract piece of art to balance out all the other kid elements. I love the look of mixing expected and unexpected elements in this way and it’s a great method to create a space that can easily transition as the child matures.
Today I am over at DecoraUSA posting about some unexpected lighting choices for kids rooms. I whipped up some design boards to show how “mature” lighting choices can work in nurseries now and transition to big kid rooms later. Here is my girl design but you’ll have to hop over there to see the boys!
