I mentioned last week that we were considering trying a real food diet. Not a diet in the sense of losing weight (although that is supposed to be one of the benefits) but a diet as in a new way of eating. I am following the guidelines set by this local Charlotte blogger because she has tons of info on her site and has done a great job of making shopping and meal planning for real food more understandable. She has even devised a way to baby step you into this kind of eating with a 10-day pledge. Since having kids I definitely am more aware of what we eat but that’s not to say we don’t indulge in Krispy Kreme or Chick fil a so this concept was a little intimidating. Especially when I realized that even some of the things we are eating that I consider “healthy” actually aren’t.
I followed one of her weekly meal plans/grocery lists and we are officially starting today. I wish I could say I was excited but with a half-dozen Krispy Kremes sitting on our kitchen counter I’m just feeling a little bitter. I’m going to rally though and really see if eating real helps with my energy levels and just overall well-being. It’s just a week, right?! I will give you an update of how it’s going and how our approach is working (I am tweaking a bit for the kids). Wish us luck!!
Here is the website/article that got me started if you are interested:
