We’re back! My band of DIYers have been getting itchy for another round of DIY Summer School and this week we have a whole array of projects to throw at you! We thought a “wildcard” week would be fun where everyone could choose their own category. I know this crew will have no trouble getting creative.

When I first thought about the wildcard week I immediately knew I wanted to do something fashion-related. I like to do projects that will actually get used and I had the perfect little clutch just waiting for some love.
I found this clutch at H&M for about $10 and I knew it would be the perfect blank canvas for one of my favorite things in the world…tassels. Isn’t everything just better with tassels?!
So I gathered my supplies:
embroidery floss
lobster claws (jewelry section)
connector rings (jewelry section)
scissors
First, I laid out the string to find the right color combo.
Second, I found the world’s fastest and easiest way to make tassels!
Seriously, I have made tassels many times before and somehow I missed this simple trick.
Each bunch of embroidery floss is sold in 10 yard increments,
which is a perfect size for a small tassel.
Leaving the wrappers on, pull out one small length of string and cut.
This will be used later.
Then simply slide the wrappers off and fold in half.
No need to measure out string and fold over and over.
Add a gold connector ring.
Then attach a lobster claw
Now comes in that piece of string…
Wrap around the top several times and tie in a couple of knots.
Last, give your tassel a haircut.
Trim off the ends to get rid of loops.
I chose to add the jewelry clasps so that I could play around with the tassels…
