Hey, hey! I cannot believe we are to the end of July! This summer has flown by and we only have two more rounds of DIY Summer School left. This week we were challenged to comb the craft stores for a little inspiration. When I came up with the idea of DIY SS it was out of my desire to finally tackle the many many projects I have had in the back of my mind so I thought this would be easy. If anything I thought I would have a hard time deciding between all of the projects in my head but I actually totally hit a creative block. Isn’t that always the way? Luckily this post from Carrie came at just the right time and offered the perfect inspiration!

I felt a little bad doing something fashion-related as opposed to home decor but creativity is creativity and I think stretching that muscle in any form is great! And I have noticed a little surge of creativity spilling over into my design projects so win-win!
And here is what I made…
This is one of those projects that has endless possibilities so it’s really fun to sit down with a girlfriend and just make. I spent the night with my sister and we sat and mindlessly came up with designs while watching The Bachelorette and sipping wine.
The only way to craft.
Here’s what you need:
variety of polymer clays
20 gauge wire
wire cutters
jewelry clasps (magnetic)
To start you just roll your clay out in various shapes.
I did a variety of balls, tubes, cubes, and a multi-faceted piece.
And by “I” I mean my son and nephew rolled out some of the shapes.
It was actually a really easy project for them and kept them busy for a good 20 minutes!
Once your shapes are rolled out, cut a piece of your 20 gauge wire.
I just wound some around my wrist to figure out how much.
Remember to leave a little extra to fasten to the clasp.
Attach one of the magnetic clasps to one end of the wire.
I just slipped the wire through and wrapped it back around the wire.
If you wanted a cleaner look you could always do a smaller loop through the clasp and snip.
Next choose some of your clay pieces to thread onto the wire.
Once they are on, loop the other end of wire through the other magnetic clasps and wrap the end again.
Snip any remaining wire.
I also attempted a double-strand bracelet.
I simply loosely wrapped wire around my wrist twice.
Then threaded more clay pieces around the wire so that there was a shape on each strand.
Repeat the same steps for the clasp.
One your creations are complete cook in the oven according to your package directions.
I love the look of these bracelets layered.
They are so dainty and fun!
Perfect colors for spring and summer…
Head over to my other hosts/hostesses and see what fun creations they have come up with!
I definitely chose a talented bunch!
