These long summer days are leaving me with a lot of hours to fill for my 4-year-old. I am not a very artistic person but I figured even I could come up with some simple homemade art. My inspiration was this canvas from West Elm, absolutely one of my favorite stores!

I love the simplicity of this. So, I laid out a big sheet in our driveway and let my sons finger paint while I went to work on my circles. I collected some lids from our house all varying in size. Then I put each color on individual paper plates. I used the washable paint I had on hand and mixed it to make the colors I wanted. Although I love the plain black and white I wanted something a little livelier for our living room to tie in with the turquoise, yellow, red, and green in my rug. Next, I just dipped the lids in the colors and placed them on the white canvas. No real order and some of the colors mixed together but in the end I think it turned out pretty fun….
